The Medibank Junior Development Series (MJDS) is a group of round-robin tournaments for beginner to intermediate players. These tournaments are conducted around Australia; in all state and territories. The MJDS is a great introduction to tournament play for juniors who are developing their Tennis skills. The series culminates in a Champion of Champions tournament in each region followed by the Medibank MJDS State Final.
Who are these tournaments for?
The MJDS sits under the Junior Tour (JT) in the Tournament Pathway and is designed to give players their first tennis experience in playing a series of tournaments throughout the year.
Age Eligibility
Please note that the 2015 Medibank JDS events are open to all male and female tennis players that are 11, 13, 15, 17 and under as at 31 December 2015. The MJDS series has a different age eligibility rule than the Junior Tour events. The reason for this is that the MJDS does not finish until October, so players entering events in February-September must still be eligible to compete in the same age group if they make it through to the Medibank JDS State Final in October.
Can I get ranking points at these tournaments?
No. The MJDS does not offer Australian Ranking Points, it maintains a development focus.
