Casey Dellacqua has won through to the last 32 of the Sony Open in Miami after overcoming Slovak Jana Cepelova in three tight sets.

Dellacqua posted a 6-4 1-6 6-4 over lucky loser Cepelova to advance to a third round meeting with 29th seed Venus Williams.

The draw gods were kind to Dellacqua on Friday; she was slated to meet world No.5  Simona Halep only for the Romanian to withdraw from the tournament with a toe injury.

Instead, the Australian wildcard found herself up against a 20-year-old ranked 76th, and sealed victory in one our and 46 minutes.
