Tennis in the ACT and the surrounding region got a major boost today, with the signing of ActewAGL as a major supporter of the Tennis ACT community tennis program.

Tennis ACT chief executive officer Ross Triffitt said he was delighted to announce the sponsorship.

“The community tennis program contains the majority of our core functions and is vital for the growth of our sport.”

The Tennis ACT community tennis program is focused on the following areas:

1. Grassroots

a.Marketing Campaigns – The implementation of marketing campaigns to promote interest in playing tennis
b.Tennis Programs – Development of programs to translate interest into participation
c.Competitions – Development of strategy to enhance competition tennis

2.Infrastructure

a.Develop more courts – Focusing on population and demand
b.Better quality of management – Ensuring operational success

3.Coach Education

a.Develop – Develop the best coaches nationally by offering educational opportunities
b.Attract – Attract and retain coaches through an engaging coach membership program

“The support from ActewAGL will greatly assist us in supporting and growing the tennis community through the delivery of promotions, programs, competitions and training for coaches and administrators,” Triffitt said.

ActewAGL Director Sales, Marketing and Corporate Affairs Paul Walshe said, “ActewAGL provides support to a variety of sporting organisations across the ACT and the surrounding region, from grassroots programs to professional teams.

“We are proud to support the Tennis ACT community tennis program, which  is a great initiative aimed at increasing participation in tennis across our community, through grassroots programs, investment in infrastructure and coaching education.
