20 February 2011 | Tennis ACT

On Sunday 20 February 2011 the Melba Tennis Club (MTC) had an extremely well attended Open Day [advertised as a Free Family Fun day] utilising all the club’s 8 tennis courts.

About 160 people, including families and juniors, gathered at the courts from 3-6pm enjoying the activities and refreshments organised by the club’s Champion Team Tennis coaches and committee members.

On the day, the ball machine provided the juniors and seniors the opportunity to test their groundstrokes, while the radar gun provided competition for those wanting to be the one with the fastest serve and gain the bragging rights that go with the title.

A variety of games including mini tennis and target practice for prizes kept the juniors entertained, while for those intending to improve their tennis, a selection of Head demo tennis racquets proved popular.

A free sausage sizzle, ice cold refreshments and a monster raffle, featuring a  Head tennis racquet and bag plus a variety of other prizes.

The focus of the day was to provide a relaxed atmosphere where people could enjoy the facilities the club has to offer, have fun, meet others from the local community, learn a little more about tennis and the opportunities that their local club can provide in developing their tennis skills.
