On Wednesday 14 September, Tennis ACT participated in the Year Four sports expo at Jerrabomberra Oval.
The aim of the day was to introduce year four kids from the Queanbeyan district into a number of different sports, with 19 different sports represented on the day. The kids participated in six sports, with the main focus on giving kids the chance to learn the basics of a new sport.
In the tennis rotation, kids were introduced to the basics of the popular MLC Tennis Hot Shots program, and learnt how to hit a simple volley.
Kelly Smith, who ran the event through Tennis ACT, said the day was a great success.
“It was great to give around 300 kids the opportunity to play tennis, when many of them have never picked up a racquet in their life,” Smith said.
