The annual Tennis ACT awards night was held at the National Sports Club in Lyneham on Saturday night, in celebration of tennis in the Nation’s Capital.

The night showcased the players, coaches and volunteers within the ACT, with over 80 people in attendance.

Nathan Price won the Club Coach of the Year, while Brett Lennard won the MLC Tennis Hot Shots Coach of the Year. Lennard’s coaching partner, Frank Calabria, won an award recognising his contribution to the MLC Hot Shots program.

Todd Larkham, who works with the top juniors in the Canberra area, won the High Performance coach of the Year, while one of his students, Nick Krygios, won Junior High Performance Player of the Year.

In the other awards, Jake Lalliard won the Junior Club Player of the Year, while Tim Harris, a mainstay in the Weston Creek Pennant team, won the Adult Club Player of the Year.

The Pines Tennis Club won club of the year, while Mark Crawley took out the Official of the Year award. Narelle Rafftery won 35+ Senior Player of the Year and Narelle Sykes won Volunteer of the Year.

Along with the awards, a mini-tennis tournament was held inside, with adult and junior players competing against each other. Riley Okines made it through the tough draw of 32 to take out the event, capping off a highly successful night.

Well done to all the 2011 award winners, the night was a great celebration of the achievements in the past twelve months. Tennis ACT looks forward to another sensational year.
