Tennis ACT is set to further promote the healthy lifestyle aspects of tennis by entering into a new partnership with Calvary Health Care ACT.

The partnership is designed to promote tennis as a life-long activity, with Calvary Health Care ACT keen to take an active role in community health.

“Participation in tennis provides numerous health benefits, including weight loss, improving cardio vascular fitness and aerobic endurance. It is also a sport for life with our participants ranging in age from 3-93 years old, so I think it is a perfect partnership for an organisation that wants to improve community health,” CEO of Tennis ACT Ross Triffitt said.

The relationship will help deliver tennis open days at tennis facilities throughout the Canberra region with the aim to get more people involved in the sport.
Calvary Health Care ACT is committed to working towards a healthier community, with abundant evidence that a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, helps in the management of chronic illness.

According to Calvary Health Care ACT Chief Executive Officer Ray Dennis, ”practising a healthy lifestyle is fundamental to good health. All the available evidence clearly shows that regular exercise and a good diet are vital in the prevention or delayed onset of chronic conditions. Our partnership with Tennis ACT is designed to give people the chance to try both the physical and social pleasure that the tennis clubs sprinkled across Canberra offer.”

The first open day will be held at the National Sports Club in Lyneham on 19 November. All Canberra residents are encouraged to attend, with competitions, prizes, professional coaching and a free barbecue on offer.
