5 March 2013 | Tennis ACT

On Saturday 2 March from 12pm four Tennis Clubs threw open their gates and welcomed the community to experience the Tennis Club atmosphere. In celebration of Canberra’s 100th birthday, Sportenary offers the chance for the Canberra community to get active and experience something new all year round.

The event ran concurrently at four locations O’Connor Tennis Club, Belconnen West Tennis Club, Weston Creek Tennis Club and North Woden Tennis Club. It was great to see all ages and abilities giving Tennis a go. Children were involved in MLC Tennis Hot Shots while adults tested their fitness in Cardio Tennis. Discount membership, competitions, prizes and BBQ were all offered on the day.

Yvette Berry MLA, member for Ginninderra officially opened the new ‘electronic tag’ entry system at Belconnen West Tennis Club and O’Connor Tennis Club had a presentation for their 100th member, very fitting in the year of Canberra’s 100th birthday.

Tennis ACT was proud to support the event. The Community Tennis Open Day is a great event to build the community through social interaction.

Thank you Sport and Recreation Services for their involvement and all who were involved in the day and made the event possible.
