5 April 2013 | Tennis ACT

Tuesday 2 April Tennis ACT were host to Special Olympics ACT Tennis open day with the aim to run an ongoing Tennis program on the northside of Canberra.

Special Olympics ACT is a branch of Special Olympics Australia, the not-for-profit organisation which transforms the lives of people with an intellectual disability.

Through regular sports participation, Special Olympics provides athletes with the opportunity to show joy, pride, have fun and build friendships while at the same time improving their health and wellbeing of the athlete.

In the ACT, we have 2 regions, Canberra and Snowy Monaro. Both regions offer a variety of team and individual sports, with the sports offered in each region being dependent on the demand and the availability of coaches at various times.

The program is guided and supported by SO ACT Territory Committee which ensures opportunities are provided for athletes and volunteers to reach their personal best.

The Tennis program will commence in Term 2. Please contact Anthony Okines [email protected] for more information
