Well done to 10 year old Annerly Poulos for winning the 12/U girls singles and doubles at the Optus Junior Tour Gosford Bronze event. Annerly did not drop a set throughout and is currently ranked No.1 in Australia in her birth year!  Annerly also did well at the 12/U Nationals in Ipswich. She won 2 out of 3 of her main draw round robin matches, eventually finishing in 15th place out of 64 players.  In the 12/U girls event ACT was also represented by Tallulah Farrow. Tallulah finished in 20th position and also had her best ever doubles result, taking out a seeded pair to reach the quarter-finals. In the Brisbane Open age, the lead up event to the Nationals, Tallulah reached the singles quarter-finals and doubles semi-finals, whilst Annerly won the consolation event. Well done to both girls who’s Australian rankings will improve when the new list is released in early May.

Dimitri Morogiannis teamed with Todd Larkham to reach the final of the Toowoomba Open Gold AMT. This is the second final of the year the team has made, after making the final at the Wodonga Open Silver AMT in February. Dimitri will be ranked inside the top 10 in his birth year in Australia in the new rankings and has improved his ranking considerably whilst Todd returns to the Australian rankings after a 9 year absence! Dimitri also made the singles semi-finals of the Brisbane Open Age and the Medibank Gold event in Sydney in the past month.

In the pro ranks, ACT’s world No.1 ranked junior player, Nick Kyrgios (18), continued his outstanding form in professional futures events in China. In 3 events Nick made a semi-final, runner-up and in the last event won his 2nd professional event for the year. This is Nick’s first year on the professional tour and he has already made huge ranking gains and is now ranked 270 in the world! He is the No.1 in the world player for his birth year both on the junior and senior rankings and has been granted a wildcard into the French Open mens qualifying event to be held in late May. Nick will then compete in the French Open and Wimbledon Junior events where he will be the No.1 seed.

In US College tennis the ACT is represented by several former ACT Academy scholarship holders. Jake and Jarred Wynan are key members of the team at the University of Louisiana, Andrew Zedde is at Georgia State University whilst Todd Volmari is at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. These boys are getting some great tennis whilst doing their degrees – a great option for many elite junior players coming out of Year 12.
