Congratulations to Ashley Keir for continuing her great form on from the Bathurst and Griffith AMT events by taking out the Wollongong Platinum AMT event. Ashley defeated Michika Ozeki in 3 sets in the final and picked up $2,000 for the win which will greatly assist her upcoming overseas trip.

It was always going to happen, but perhaps even Nick didn’t expect it so soon.  This week Canberra’s Nick Kyrgios officially hit the “big time” by taking out former top 10 player and current world No.57 Radek Stepanek in the first round of the mens French Open. Nick showed what a phenomenal competitor he is, by saving 5 set points in the 2nd set tie break followed by 4 set points in the 3rd set tie break – taking out the match 7/6, 7/6, 7/6!! Nick gained valuable experience in his 2nd round, showing he can compete with the best by going down to World No.11 Maron Cilic 4/6, 2/6, 2/6. Nick has proved that great players can come from anywhere and not just the large capital cities – congratulations Nick and good luck in the French Open Junior Event the ACT tennis community is right behind you!!  And what a nice cheque of $50,000 Australian dollars to pick up just after your 18th birthday.  He should be able to buy a few playstation games with that!
