17 September 2013 | Tennis ACT

The Disability Participation day is a ‘Sportenary’ event in celebration of Canberra’s centenary. On 1 September, Tennis ACT ran a modified game of tennis on mini courts at the MPowerdome for all people living with a disability. The Sportenary aimed to encourage all members of the community with a disability, and their families, to partake in sport in the ACT and learn about how to get involved in the sports they enjoyed the most. There was a variety of sports offered including archery, wheelchair basketball, boccia, blind cricket, AWD futsal/football, gymnastics, table tennis, tenpin bowling and goalball.

The day was a great success and we would like to thank all who attended and participated on the day. It was good to see so many people get involved and take an interest in Tennis. We hope to see more of these tennis enthusiasts joining our clubs coaching programs over the coming months.
