2 May 2014 | Tennis ACT

By Anne Haycock

On 1 May this year the TACT Ladies Committee held a very successful Charity Day at the Melba and Belconnen courts. This event is held each year and supports a different charity. It’s success depends on the support of the wider tennis community.

Tennis Seniors always provide the balls for the tournament and Belconnen and Melba their courts in recent years due to redevelopment at Lyneham. The Tradies and Ainslie Clubs gave vouchers for the raffle and the ladies made delicious salads for the rather extravagant Sausage Sizzle luncheon.

Over 70 men and women participated in the tournament and then enjoyed the luncheon in the Belconnen Gazebo. CEO Ross Triffitt called by with the cheque of $1226 which this years charity Marymead were delighted to receive. Ross assured us the lunch was ok. We thank everyone for supporting this very worthwhile annual event whether it be participating, giving courts or balls, providing raffle items ,making salads or making the weather perfect.

See you all next year.
