60 mens team

Over 800 participants from across the country will descend on Canberra for two weeks in January to take part in the Australian Tennis Seniors Championships. The Championships will be held from the 5-16th of January at multiple venues across the ACT, including the newly opened Canberra Tennis Centre. The first week of the championships will consist of a team’s event featuring state teams from across Australia along with some international teams. The individual championships will take place during the second week with events starting from 35 years up to 85 years +.

The ACT will have 13 teams competing across 10 divisions in the team’s events which will take place at Belconnen Tennis Club, Melba Tennis Club, Weston Creek, and the Canberra Tennis Centre. A number of ACT teams are expected to do well including the Men’s 35-45 team which is headed by Damien Ward. The Men’s 60 years team is also a strong contender featuring two current Australian representatives in Colin Holgate and Neville Rodwell. The 55 Women’s team is led by current world doubles champions, Ros Balodis, and is also expected to perform well.

In the second week the focus will turn to the individual championships which will feature 60 events including singles, doubles and mixed. A number of the world’s leading seniors tennis players will be playing in the individual championships. In the Men’s event, Bruno Renoult from France is expected to do well in the 65 Men’s singles, while Glen Busby from Victoria is the current world 55’s world singles champion. In the Women’s event, Canberra’s own Ros Balodis will be expecting to continue her strong history with the Australian Championships to take home another title. In addition, at least two dozen current Australian representative players will be competing during the championships.
