ACT’s Dimitri Morogiannis and Jake Eames will contest qualifying at the Canberra International on Saturday 31 October.  The USD$50,000 ATP Challenger event will be held at the Canberra Tennis Centre from October 31 to November 8.

16 year old, Morogiannis has been in good form recently after taking out the title at the Canberra Junior International ITF event in early October.  He also made the quarter finals of the 16’s nationals, and won the doubles title with Thomas Bosancic.  Morogiannis will face number 5 seed, Daniel Hobart from South Australia in the first round of qualifying.  Hobart is currently ranked ATP 1018 and will provide a tough test for Morogiannis.

Eames, who has been injured for the majority of 2015 will be looking to regain the form that took him to a career high ATP ranking of 695 in late 2014.  After making it through to the final round of qualifying the past 2 weeks, Eames will be looking to go one better this week.  As the number 6 seed in qualifying, Eames has a first round bye and will face the winner of Scott Puodziunas and wildcard, Brian Tran.

The men’s and women’s Canberra International events form part of the Australian Pro Tour, which provides local and international players the ideal lead-in to the domestic summer of tennis.

Women’s qualifying will commence on Sunday 1 November.

Entry to the Canberra Tennis Centre is free.
