Canberra Velocity will launch their 2015-16 campaign with back to back home matches at the Canberra Tennis Centre on November 20-21.

The 2015-16 Asia Pacific Tennis League (ATL) now features two Australian conferences – North and South. Each conference consists of two pools of four teams. Velocity has been draw in North Pool B and will face the Sunshine Coast Breakers, Sydney Saints, and the Western Sydney Warriors.

The draw released earlier this week, sees both men’s and women’s team open their campaigns against the Sydney Saints on Friday 20th November at 4.30pm. The following day they will return to play Queensland team, Sunshine Coast Breakers, before travelling to Wollongong on Sunday to face the Western Sydney Warriors.

Rounds 4, 5, and 6 will see Velocity travel to Sydney to take on all three teams for a second time from the 27-29 November. The top 2 teams will then progress to the Conference finals to be held in Queensland from December 4-6. There they will face the top 2 teams from Pool A which features 4 Queensland teams.

The Women’s team, who won the NSW/ACT Conference title the past two years will be led by touring professionals Alison Bai, Alexandra Nancarrow, and Ashley Keir. Bai reached a career high ranking of 305 earlier this month and will look to continue her winning streak from last year where she went undefeated in singles play for Velocity. Nancarrow, has been battling a hand injury which forced her out of last week’s Canberra International, and it still fighting the clock to be fit. Regardless, she will play a leading role with the team after being appointed team manager.

The men’s team will be led by Jake Eames, Daniel Guccione, and James Frawley. Eames who has only recently returned to the court after missing most the year through injury, will be looking to make an impact towards the top of the line up. Eames, will also manage the men’s team throughout the season. Frawley has been in good form recently competing in the Canberra International, where he partnered with Harry Bourchier to defeat Marinko Matosevic and Robin Stanek.

Entry into the Canberra Tennis Centre is free on both days. Saturday will feature family activities including a jumping castle, face painting, speed serve, hit the target, and ANZ Tennis Hot Shots.
