12 year old Annerly Poulos, has had an outstanding week making the finals of the 14/U Australian Championships at the December Showdown in Melbourne.  Playing against players 2 years her senior, Poulos made her mark with several impressive victories throughout the week.  In the quarter finals she defeated number 3 Olivia Gadecki, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.  Gadecki is ranked number 1 in Australia for the 13 year age group.

In the semi finals, she defeated number 2 seed, Madison Bishop from South Australia, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.  Bishop is currently ranked number 2 in Australia for the 14 year age group.

In the final she faced number 1 seed and the top 14 year old in the country, Amber Marshall.  Marshall who hadn’t dropped a set all week, continued her good form, edging Poulos out in a tight match 7-6, 7-5.

Poulos will now represent the ACT in the 14/U Australian Teams Championships alongside Matina Ujdur.  Sam Bisa, Jack Lyons, and Daniel Zhang will play in the 14/U Boys team championships.  The 12 Girls will be represented by Alyssa Simoncini, Ashleigh Simes, and Chloe Koundouris, while the 12 Boys will feature Sam Bisa, Jack Lyons, and Daniel Zhang.
