Rising Australian junior Alex De Minaur (NSW) has been granted a main draw wildcard into the Canberra $75K ATP Challenger while local Canberra junior Dimitri Morogiannis has been granted a qualifying wildcard.

De Minaur, has come off an impressive 2015 which included making it to the semifinals of the US Open Boys Singles Championships as a qualifier, defeating the number 2 and 9 seeds on his way. The 16 year old from Sydney is currently ranked 10 in the ITF junior world rankings. With ten of the world’s top 100 men confirmed for the tournament, it will be sure to provide De Minaur with valuable experience ahead of this month’s Australian Open 2016 Boys Singles Championships.

Local Canberra teenager, Dimitri Morogiannis will contest qualifying after being granted a wildcard. Morogiannis, who won his first ITF junior title at the Canberra Junior International last year, is currently sitting at a career high ITF junior world ranking of 372.

Morogiannis is looking forward to the challenge saying “It’s a great opportunity for me to play in such a high level event, and exciting to compete in my hometown in front of family and friends”.

Qualifying is set to commence Saturday from 10am with free entry into the Canberra Tennis Centre. The qualifying draw and Saturday’s order of play can be found by clicking here.

The Canberra $75K ATP Challenger will be held at the Canberra Tennis Centre from 9-16 January, 2016.  The event is part of the Australian Pro Tour and will provide local and international players a lead-in to the Australian Open 2016.
