Australia’s Matthew Ebden (WA) will open his campaign at the Canberra $75K ATP Challenger on Tuesday. Top seed Paolo Lorenzi (ITA), second seed Santiago Giraldo (COL), and Ivan Dodig (COL) will all feature in first round action.

Ebden, has landed in a tough section of the draw and will face Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver who is ranked 7 spots above Ebden in the ATP rankings. The winner will play either the 5th seed, Ivan Dodig (CRO) or Australia’s Dayne Kelly. Dodig has been in good form, qualifying and making the second round at the Brisbane International before falling to eventual champion Milos Raonic in three sets.

Top seed Lorenzi (ITA), will face fellow countryman Stefano Napolitano, while second seed Giraldo has been draw a tough first round against Dudi Sela. With the pair ranked 75 and 100 respectively, it is sure to be a high quality affair. Australian’s Andrew Whittington (Vic), Daniel Hobart (SA), Max Purcell (NSW), and Alexei Popyrin (NSW) will all start their campaigns.

In today’s action, 3rd seed Daniel Munoz de la Nava (ESP) and 7th seed Evgeny Donskoy (RUS) both had comfortable victories. Australian Maverick Banes (Qld) posted a straight sets win over Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE), while Steven De Waard (Qld) went down to fellow qualifier Frank Moser (GER). Fellow Aussies Alex De Minaur (NSW) and Jarryd Chaplin (NSW), both put up a strong fights against much higher ranked opponents but eventually fell in 3 sets.
