All sixteen seeds have progressed through to the final round of qualifying at the ACT Claycourt international #1.

Top seed Tammi Patterson (VIC) had a comfortable win over Abigail Tere-Apisah (PNG), 6-4, 6-1, while second seed Katharina Lenher (PHI) defeated Brooke Winley (NSW) by the same scoreline. Third seed Pia Konig (AUT) won in straight sets, as did fourth seed Sally Peers (Vic).

Maddison Inglis (WA) and Destanee Aiava (Vic) both had convincing wins and will now play each other for a place in the main draw.

The main draw was released today, with Canberra’s Alison Bai faced with the tough task of taking on top seed Miyu Kato (JPN) who is ranked 166. Wildcard Ashley Keir has drawn a qualifier and will have to wait until tomorrow to find out who she plays.

Arina Rodionova (Vic) is the only Australian seeded and will open her campaign against Barbora Stefkova (CZE) who is coming off a finals appearance in Mildura. Storm Sanders (WA) will face sixth seed Erika Sema (JPN), while Jessica Moore (WA) will take on Australian wildcard Olivia Tjandramulia (Qld).

Entry into the Canberra Tennis Centre is free, with the final round of qualifying starting 10am on Monday. Main draw will commence on Tuesday 15 March at 10am. Tournament draws and the order of play can be found here

The ACT Claycourt International #1 and #2 will be held at the Canberra Tennis Centre from March 12-27. Each tournament will offer $25,000 in prizemoney and will be held on the recently redeveloped European clay courts.

The tournaments were announced in May, 2015 as part of the Tennis ACT calendar of events secured through the redevelopment of the Canberra Tennis Centre.

The redeveloped Canberra Tennis Centre features 28 tennis courts – including synthetic grass, Italian clay and hardcourt surfaces – as well as four ANZ Tennis Hot Shots courts.
