The NSW 14/U State Team Championships was held last weekend in Gosford NSW. The event consisted of five metropolitan teams, six country teams and an ACT team with the Ken Roswall Cup and Lesley Bowrey Cup on offer for the winners. Tennis legends Ken Rosewall and Lesley Bowrey attended the event to watch some outstanding tennis and present their Cups to the winners on the final day of competition.
The boys ACT team consisted of Sam Bisa, Daniel Zhang and Jimmy Fu. The boy had some tough competition but showed great teamwork finishing 4th in their pool. In the final round the boys went down in a close encounter against Northumberland Thunder to finish 8th overall. The winners of the Ken Rosewall Cup was the Metro Navy Slammers who defeated the South East Waves.
In the girls division, the ACT team consisted of Ashleigh Simes, Alyssa Simoncini and Madison Sutherland. The girls displayed some great tennis and fought hard for every match. The girls finished 4th in the pool and finished 7th overall with a final win over the South East Waves. The Metro Green Dynamite won the Lesley Bowrey Cup defeating the Metro Maroon Stormers in a close final.
