Lyneham ACT 2602, Australia, 12 September 2016 | Tennis ACT

On Saturday 10 September, over 120 guests witnessed three tennis legends and 13 annual award winners take centre stage, as they were acknowledged for their achievements and contribution to tennis.
Ken Willis, Wally Masur and Keith Carnall lead formalities, the first three people inducted to the inaugural Tennis ACT Walk of Fame.
Now an annual element of the Tennis ACT annual awards, the Tennis ACT Walk of Fame honors those whose exceptional contribution has brought recognition and esteem to tennis in the Australian Capital Territory.
Tennis ACT CEO, Ross Triffitt, said the awards were an important part of the tennis community.
“The Walk of Fame project is a valuable representation of the past, present and future of tennis,” he said.
“The three inaugural inductees are individuals from three different eras that have made a significant contribution to Tennis in the ACT over the lifespan of the organisation. They are all great examples of the type of candidates we wish to honour as part of this permanent legacy,” Triffitt continued.
“The Tennis ACT annual awards celebrate and recognise high achievement in our sport,” he said. “Not only that, the categories represent all aspects of our game. Play, time, dedication and support from individuals, associations, tennis members, coaches and families.”
Congratulations all.

Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards
On behalf of Tennis ACT, winners of an applicable Tennis ACT Award will be nominated for the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards in their equivalent category.
In 2016 a new nomination process for the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards has been introduced.
From 2016 onwards, nominations will not be accepted directly for these awards – instead, nominees must enter the running for their relevant Member Association awards and the winners of each state and territory award category will become finalists for the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards.
This process is designed to encourage the top candidates in each state and territory to put themselves forward for their Member Association awards, and will ensure representatives from across the national tennis community are recognised as Newcombe Medal award winners.
If you have been unable to nominate for your state/territory award ahead of the deadline please contact Tennis Australia regarding your eligibility for a wildcard nomination – 1800 PLAY TENNIS or play@tennis.com.au.
To be eligible for the 2017 Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards, we encourage all members of the Canberra tennis community to nominate for the 2016/17 Tennis ACT Awards. Nominations will open in mid July 2017.
The 2016 Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards will be held at Crown Palladium in Melbourne on Monday 28 November 2016.
For guests attending the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards, we are pleased to offer special accommodation rates at Crown Towers, Crown Promenade and Crown Metropol hotels.
