A number of Apis Canberra International players have made big ranking gains after the Men’s USD$75,000 ATP Challenger and Women’s USD$60,000 ITF event.
Men’s champion Matthew Ebden (WA) and finalist Taro Daniel (JPN) have both returned to the world’s top 100, with Ebden coming in at 100 and Daniel up to 96 in the rankings. The gains are significant for both players as they look to secure direct entry into next year’s Australian Open. Wildcard Blake Ellis (QLD) jumped 193 places in the ATP rankings to now sit at a career high ranking of 193. Men’s doubles champion Bradley Mousley (SA) has broken into the top 100 in the doubles rankings for the first time after taking the title with Alex Bolt. Mousley sits at 100 on the doubles rankings while partner Bolt, is at 95, just two spots of a career high.
Women’s champion Olivia Rogowska (VIC)’s winning run has seen her head back into the world’s top 200, now up to 186. Finalist, Destanee Aiava (VIC) is only 3 spots short of her career high ranking at 150 while Canberra’s Alison Bai semifinal showing has seen her jump 129 spots to 475. After coming through qualifying to make the quarterfinals, Queensland teenager Kaylah McPhee has shaved 374 places off her ranking to reach a career high of 717.

The Apis Canberra International 2017 was held from 28 October – 5 November at the Canberra tennis Centre. A USD$75,000 ATP Challenger and ITF Women’s USD$60,000 event, the tournament attracted players from 19 countries.
