The inaugural ACT Champion of Champions – ANZ Junior Development Series (JDS) was held at the Canberra Tennis Centre on Saturday 16 December.
Players qualified for Champion of Champions by having played in at least three of the JDS series events and having made it to the semifinal (top 4) of at lease one event.
Tournament Director Lenka Greenhalgh was happy to be able to extend the series to include the event, saying “We were please to be able to deliver this event for the first time in the ACT. The JDS encourages players to participate in a fun, friendly environment and its great to see the kids so passionate about competing.
“We received great feedback from the players and parents, and the sportsmanship displayed on the day was excellent,” Greenhalgh added.
The tournament and a barbecue presentation were held free of charge for players courtesy of ANZ.
The JDS is a series of local tournaments aimed at players just starting out in tournaments. Each tournament is run at an ACT club by the Club Coach and committee, and each event prides itself on the friendly and fun atmosphere while providing competitive playing opportunity.
