Priscilla Hon (Qld) and Dalila Jakupovic (SLO) have taken out the ACT Claycourt International #1 doubles title in a hard fought victory of the Japanese pairing of Miyu Kato and Makoto Ninomiya 6-4 4-6 10-7.

The third seeds spent plenty of time on court in Canberra with three of their four matches coming down to a super tiebreak.

It was the fourth time the pair had teamed up and they were pleased to win their first title together saying the enjoyment of playing together has been key to their success.

“We get along off court, and we have fun off and on the court.  Sometimes it’s harder if you don’t know someone, you don’t want to win as bad, it’s a little bit tougher.

Jakupovic is currently sitting at a career high doubles ranking of 55 and is Hon projected to break into the world’s top 100 in doubles for the first time after the win, with Hon setting her sights on playing high level events.

“It’s good to have a career high and get a good ranking and get into bigger tournaments”.

Jakupovic will be back in action on Saturday as she takes on Gabriella Taylor (GBR) in the singles semifinals.  The other semifinal will feature Australia’s Destanee Aiava set to face Miyu Kato.
