ACT players had a stellar summer on the court with our top ranked female, Alison Bai leading the way.  Bai qualified for her first WTA event, posting a career best victory over world No.93 Anastasia Potapova in the opening round of qualifying.  She then defeated fellow Australian Olivia Rogowska to earn a main draw position, before falling to Alize Cornet in the first round.

Bai earned a doubles wildcard into Australian Open 2019 partnered with Zoe Hives.  The pair won their opening round, Bai’s first Grand Slam win, before going down to Nao Hibino (JPN) and Desirae Krawczyk (USA) in the second round.

James Frawley also posted a great result, winning his opening round match at the East Hotel Canberra Challenger.  The victory earned him a shot at world No.94 Ilya Ivashka with the Canberran pushing him all the way to a third set tiebreak, before the Belarusian prevailed 4-6 6-1 7-6(4).  The result saw Frawley jump to a career high ATP ranking of 594.

Sarina Kang claimed AMT titles in Canberra and Albury, while also making the finals of the Victorian Grasscourts.  Jamieson Nathan won the Tennis World Bronze AMT singles title, while Jack Tallarida Lyons and Josh Kinaadman took out the doubles.

In the junior ranks, Aliyah Dwyer won the singles and doubles titles at the Geelong Gold JT, while Charlie Snow also claimed the singles and doubles at the Newcastle Silver JT.  Annika Wise won the 18 girls singles in Coffs Harbour, Alishar Kumar won the 12/u girls singles while Meaghann Scott won the 12/u girls doubles in Canberra, and Sophie McDonald was victorious in the 16/u girls doubles at the Victorian Grasscourts.
