ANZ today announced they will extend their partnership with Tennis ACT for a further two years, supporting tennis across the ACT and region.
Today’s announcement coincides with the construction at The Pines Tennis Club, where a purpose built Kids Zone will transform tennis in the Tuggeranong community, making the sport more accessible to over 85,000 Tuggeranong residents.
The Kids Zone, supported by ANZ will comprise of two ANZ Tennis Hot Shots courts, and a re-purposed and re-developed hitting wall. This project will allow future generations to experience the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program, designed for 3-12 year olds, creating a fun and vibrant introduction to their tennis journey.
Head Coach for The Pines Tennis Club, Robert Jamieson is delighted the project is underway “The new Kids Zone and ANZ Tennis Hot Shots courts will allow us to grow our programs and meet the increasing demand for lessons for junior players in the Tuggeranong region. Tuggeranong is a large region; however it has very few tennis courts and is desperate for the current facilities to be upgraded to meet the growing demand”.
Jamieson continued, “The Kids Zone is the start of revitalising tennis within the region and it will help strengthen our coaching and playing programs at the club. The purpose built area will allow our students to learn to play tennis on a court that suits their size and development, ultimately making it a more enjoyable and fun experience for them. Additionally, we will be encouraging players of all ages to utilise the courts as modified courts providing a fun and alternative way to train for tennis”.
ANZ have extend their partnership for a further two years in the ACT, continuing as naming rights partner of the largest inter-club competition ANZ Junior Pennant, alongside the ANZ Junior Development Series (JDS) in the ACT. ANZ also support a number of local projects including the Kids Zone at the Pines Tennis Club, and community engagement via the Club and Coach Forums the Tennis ACT Awards, held annually.
ANZ District Manager Nadine Maroney said the partnership is all about supporting the Canberra community; “At ANZ, we’re committed to shaping a world where people and communities thrive. We are delighted to support the Tennis ACT Junior Development Pathway and The Pines Hitting Wall Project, which continues our support of tennis across the ACT. My team and I are committed to working with Tennis ACT to help grassroots players connect their love of the sport with knowledge of how to be in control of their finances”.
The Pines Tennis Club Kids Zone will launch in spring, with a free community Open Day for all ages.
