The ACT Bruce Cup team has posted one of its strongest performances in recent years, finishing in sixth position at the School Sport Australia 12 and under Championships held in Perth from 13-19 October.
Team ACT posted commanding 22-2 victories over both Tasmania and Northern Territory. Despite falling to the remaining larger states, team ACT managed to win rubbers in all the ties, including a 17-7 loss to Western Australia.
The team also had the opportunity to hear from Fed Cup Captain, Alicia Molik, when she dropped in to visit the competitors. The team presented Alicia with a message board wishing the Australian Fed Cup team the best of luck ahead of the Fed Cup Finals next month.
Bruce Cup team coach and Tennis Australia Talent Manager ACT & South East NSW, Alun Jones was pleased with how the team performed.
“I’ve been going to Bruce Cup with the team for the past five years and we won more rubbers this year than any other year I’ve been.
“I’m really proud of how the team performed throughout the week. They posted some great wins and were competitive in all of their matches.
