Top seeds, Ugo Humbert (FRA) and Patricia Maria Tig (ROU) will begin their campaigns at the Apis Canberra International (Bendigo) on Wednesday.

World No.56 Humbert comes into the event off the back of a breakthrough 2019 which saw him reach a career high ranking of No.46 and reach the fourth round of Wimbledon.  Humbert will take on Danilo Petrovic (SRB) who defeated Elias Ymer (SWE) in two tight sets today.

Women’s top seed, Tig will also be in action when she takes on Indy De Vroome (NED) in her opening round match.  Tig returned to the tour unranked in April 2019 after 18 months off due to injury and pregnancy.  She came through qualifying to make the final of the WTA event in Bucharest and won a WTA series title in Germany to climb to No.111 in the world by the end of 2019.

Men’s second seed Andreas Seppi (ITA) will take on lucky loser Zhe Li (CHN) who was a last minute replacement in the draw for Hyeon Chung (KOR).  Li beat Australian wildcard Akira Santillan (Qld) in straight sets today.  Fourth seed and former world No.16 Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER) will play his opening match against Australian wildcard Aleksander Vukic (NSW).

Women’s second seed Mandy Minella (LUX) is first up on Wednesday, taking on Pemra Ozgen (TUR), while third seed Sachia Vickery (USA) opens against Jaqueline Adina Cristian (ROU).
