Metropolitan North Winners of The Queensland Junior Teams Carnival 2011

On the 10^th December to 14^th December the Queensland Tennis Centre, Griffith University, and University of Queensland Tennis Centre played host to young tennis players throughout Queensland participating in the Queensland Junior Teams Carnival. Gold Coast Region won the title in 2010 however this year they were unable defend their title due to the driving force of the Metropolitan North Team who took out the title for 2011. The Metropolitan South Region was a close second showing Metro’s dominance as a region.

Regions such as Central, Sunshine Coast, South and North Region actively participated in the event. With the regional players coming to participate makes the event competitive and proves to be the most enjoyable and fun event on the Junior Calendar for 2011.

Queensland Junior Teams Highlights for Metro in 2011.

• 11/under Met South A- Runner Up
• 13/under Met North A Winners and 13/under Met South A  Runner Up
• 15/under Met North A Winners and 15/under Met South A Runner Up
• 17/under Met North A Winners

I would like to congratulate all the participants in the Metropolitan Teams as it was great to see the Met North and the Met South Teams supporting each other.

Overall the Regional standings go as follows for 2011.

Best Poster Award: Winner Casey Edwards in the 13/under age group who made a wonderful GO METRO poster.  Runner up in the poster competition was Danielle Morris in the 11/under who made a wonderful poster for her team.

It would be great to see Metro defend the title in 2012 so make sure you get your nominations in as they will close in October 2012.  Please check the Metro website for updates for 2012.
