On Monday, the Australian Tennis Museum held its 10th annual fundraising luncheon. Patron Ken Rosewall was joined by Margaret Court and 250 guests to help the museum raise funds for its work in preserving and promoting the history of tennis in Australia.
After viewing the museum’s current exhibition “The Hopman Era: Australia on the Rise” with a glass of champagne, guests headed upstairs where official MC Garry Wilkinson interviewed Margaret on all aspects of her tennis career and her life after tennis. Margaret described the great impact her coaches had in helping her to succeed, her brief affair with athletics towards the end of her career, and her need to always have a goal in front of her to achieve.
Australian Tennis Museum Curator Ada Klinkhamer said “It is fantastic having so many people here to celebrate the 10th year of the Ken Rosewall Luncheon and to support the museum… we even broke our record number of guests this year!”
Margaret Court enjoyed an illustrious career spanning 15 years – 1960 to 1975 – where she amassed a prolific 92 major international championships, including 62 Grand Slam titles. She has been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and the Australian Tennis Hall of Fame.
