Australian Tennis Museum

Museum Receives Government Funding

The Australian Tennis Museum has been lucky enough to receive $5,500 in funding as part of the Community Heirtage Grant scheme run by the National Library of Australia.

This money will go towards the conservation of our clothing collection. This will involve the purchase archival materials to rehouse our t-shirt and hat collection. By moving these items from plastic boxes and into archival boxes, they will be saved from severe creasing and yellowing caused by being tightly packed together and will also greatly reduce the risk of mould growth caused by the plastic boxes. Some of the money will also go towards conservation treatments that will be performed on seven of our clothing items. These include shoes worn by Steffi Graff, dresses designed by Teddy Tinling and Davis Cup Blazers worn by Neale Fraser and Ken Rosewall. By acting now to conserve these items, their life will be greatly increased and they will be stable enough to go on display again.
