The main draw of the Mildura Grand International will swing into action on Tuesday with 16 Australian players hitting the courts in the first round of the men’s and women’s singles draws.

Two young Australian players, Jonathan Cooper (NSW) and wild card Ashleigh Barty (Qld) will take on the No. 1 seeds in their respective draws. Copper will face 19-year-old Tsung-Hua Yang of Chinese Taipei first up on Centre Court, which will be followed by Barty’s encounter against Kumiko Iijima of Japan.

The men’s draw will also see two Queenslanders go head to head when the No. 8 seed Michael Look, 23, plays 27-year-old qualifier Patrick Ganet.

Optus 18s National Champion, Isabella Holland (Qld) will also make a first round appearance tomorrow when she meets a fellow Australian and tournament wild card Alison Shemon (NSW).

Victorian player Karen FiIippou of Mt Waverley will face a challenging first match against the right handed No. 2 seed, Katie O’Brien of Great Britain.
