Casey Dellacqua has been defeated in the second round of the AEGON Classic in Birmingham.

The West Australian was knocked out in three sets by 16th seed Alla Kudryavtseva, 7-5 3-6 6-4.

World No.316 Dellacqua was coming off a first-round upset of Sandra Zahlavova and her win in the French Open mixed doubles final last week with American Scott Lipsky.

Dellacqua won four of six break-point opportunities, but it wasn’t enough as she offered up nine break points on her serve of which her opponent converted four.

Kudryavtseva needed over one hour and 46 minutes to take the match from Dellacqua who recently returned to the court following shoulder and foot surgery.
