Carsten Ball has fallen one win shy of reaching the final at the ATP Comerica Bank Challenger in Aptos, California.

Ball lost a close semifinal to seventh seed Ilija Bozoljac of Serbia 7-6(3) 6-3.

The Australian had an impressive week at the USD$100,000 event including a three-set quarterfinal win over fourth seed Wayne Odesnik.

Compatriot Matt Ebden also reached the quarterfinals, where he fell to Lithuania’s Laurynas Grigelis 3-6 7-6(5) 6-2.
