Australia’s Greg Jones has missed out on making his maiden appearance at a Grand Slam by losing in the final round of US Open qualifying.
Jones’ 6-3 6-3 defeat at the hands of Japan’s Go Soeda on Friday meant that no Australian progressed through qualifying into the main draw of the tournament starting on Monday.
Australia have seven players in singles action next week with Bernard Tomic and Marinko Matosevic representing the men’s contingent.
In the women’s, Samantha Stosur, Jarmila Gajdosova, Jelena Dokic, Casey Dellacqua and Anastasia Rodionova will fly the flag.
