The reigning US Open champion prevailed 6-2 6-4 in the second-round clash against the world No.113 to book a meeting with South Africa’s Chanelle Scheepers in the last eight of the hardcourt tournament.
Stosur captured her first-ever WTA singles title in Osaka two years ago and is looking to add to that tally before this month’s rich season-ending WTA Championships in Istanbul.
Scheepers downed Kazakhstani qualifier Yaroslava Shvedova 4-6 6-3 7-6 (7-5) in a just under two hours, while in other second-round matches, Japanese sixth-seed Ayumi Morita defeated Greece’s Eleni Daniilidou 6-2 6-3 and France’s Marion Bartoli beat American Vania King 6-1 6-2.
