Australia’s No.1 male player Bernard Tomic was today named as the ambassador of Tennis Australia’s Junior Development Series, now sponsored by Medibank in a new three-year deal.
The health insurer has taken over sponsorship of the program, which forms a key pathway in the development of emerging Australian tennis players.
The Medibank Junior Development Series covers 250 junior tournaments Australia-wide for beginners to immediate-level ability for the purpose of providing extensive experience with competitive play.
Tomic took a break from training with the Australian Davis Cup team where on Friday he will open against Chinese No.2 player Wu Di at the Geelong Lawn Tennis Club at the Asia Oceania Zone 1 tie.
The world No. 36 later had a hit with kids from Tennis Australia’s talent development squad, who have also been training and soaking up the Davis Cup atmosphere this week.
