Qualifier Marinko Matosevic has joined Bernard Tomic in the second round of the AEGON International.
In the final Wimbledon warm-up event, Matosevic came back from a set down to knock out local hope James Ward, 4-6 6-1 6-4.
The Australian secured his spot in the main draw after winning his way through qualifying
Matosevic, currently ranked No.82, will now take on top seed and world No.19 Richard Gasquet who received a bye into the second round. This will be their first on-court meeting.
Fourth seed Tomic also received a first-round bye and will take on Italy’s Fabio Fognini in the second round.
Matt Ebden, who also made it through qualifying, will be hoping to join his countrymen in the second round but first must find a way past 72nd-ranked Belgian Steve Darcis.
