The Brisbane International has taken out the International Group award for “Best Fan Experience” in 2012.
The award, which was voted on by members of the ATP, came on the back of a record attendance at Brisbane International 2012, which was highlighted by 18,000 people attending the inaugural Kids Tennis Day.
Another factor in Brisbane’s win was Tennis Central, which was a new feature at the 2012 event.
Designed specifically for fans, Tennis Central brought food, tennis and entertainment together in the one space.
“We set out to deliver a magical spectator experience at the Brisbane International in 2012,” explained Tournament Director Cameron Pearson.
“Being recognised as delivering the best fan experience of any tournament in the ATP International Group, which includes the Middle East, Asia and Pacific regions is something we are really proud of.
“The Brisbane International continues to grow in stature as an event. Awards like this place us right at the top of International Tennis.
“Our fans are what makes this event so special. We are always trying to ensure we deliver a great experience for them. The Brisbane International is much more than just a tennis tournament. It is an event that has something for everybody.”
Brisbane International 2013 will be held at the Queensland Tennis Centre from 30 December to 6 January 2013.
