Three of Australia’s premier tennis accolades have been nominated for a Melbourne Design Award in the Object, Product design – sport and leisure category.
These tennis gongs are Roy Emerson Trophy (Brisbane International men’s singles trophy), Evonne Goolagong Cawley Trophy (Brisbane International women’s singles trophy) and the Newcombe Medal, annual award for Australia’s most outstanding player named in honour of tennis legend John Newcombe.
The Melbourne Design Awards represent the diversity and culture of the Melbourne design industry.
Melbourne creative agency R-Co Brand Identity was commissioned to craft these three tennis awards and was looking to make them admired because of their contemporary design and significance of achievement.
When designing the Brisbane International trophies, R-Co took inspiration from the Brisbane International brand mark with its circular elements symbolic of the Brisbane River and a tennis ball. The Newcombe Medal was created to be equivalent of other great sport awards, as well as inspirational.
