Jarmila Gajdosova has gone down in the first round of the WTA Guangzhou International on Tuesday to little-known Thai Nudnida Luangnam.
Gajdosova won the opening set in a tiebreak but faded as the match progressed, eventually losing 6-7(5) 6-4 6-2 in two hours and 19 minutes.
Luangnam was a qualifier into the Guangzhou tournament and is currently ranked 250th in the world. She will next face Chinese No.7 seed Peng Shuai.
The Aussie shot herself in the foot with 10 double faults and a first-service percentage of just 55, which helped the Thai player break her serve on six occasions.
The loss continues a horror run of form for Gajdosova, who is now the third-ranked Australian after Sam Stosur and Casey Dellacqua.
The Victorian has lost her last eight matches in a row, taking her season win-loss record to 9-20. Her most recent win came in the first round at Roland Garros, when opponent Magdalena Rybarikova retired in the second set.
After beginning the year ranked 34th in the world, Gajdosova has slipped to No.117.
