International stars claim Margaret River titles
New Zealander Michael Venus and France’s Victoria Larriere have both defeated seeded players to take out the 2012 Margaret River International.

New Zealander Michael Venus and France’s Victoria Larriere have both defeated seeded players to take out the 2012 Margaret River International proudly supported by the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River on Sunday.
Venus overcame sixth seed Adam Feeney (Gosford, NSW) to take out the men’s singles final 6-3 3-6 6-3.
The three set win over the highly-fancied Feeney, who had taken out the 2012 Esperance Tennis International one week prior, is Venus’ best result for the year.
Meanwhile in the women’s event, Frenchwoman Larriere pulled off a surprising win over top seed and Esperance women’s singles winner, Olivia Rogowska (St Kilda, Vic) finishing 6-3 6-3.
Australian pairing and the number one seeds Luke Saville (Barmera, SA) and Andrew Whittington (Williamstown, Vic) took out the men’s doubles event over second seeds Matthew Barton (Manly, NSW) and Michael Look (Scarborough, Qld) in a close match 7-6(6) 7-6(4).
The women’s doubles saw the unseeded Japanese pair of Miyabi Inoue and Mai Minokoshi defeat the number one seeds of Nicha Lertpitaksinchai (THA) and Peangtarn Plipuech (THA) 6-7(8) 7-6(3) [14-12] in another close doubles match.
The Australian Pro Tour will have a one week break before travelling to Victoria for the penultimate event on the calendar, the Latrobe City MSS Security Tennis International in Traralgon.
