Zane Benfell from West Ryde is our latest MLC Tennis Hot Shot of the Year – the monthly winner for September.
The nine-year-old currently plays Hot Shots at Moore Tennis – Tennis School, Denistone East Community Tennis Courts and is coached by Anthony Moore, who owns the school.
The promising youngster has a real passion for the game and has made some great mates through the program.
“I love the game. I’ve been having lessons since I was five,” said Benfell.
“I’ve made lots of new friends through tennis and my lessons have helped my confidence a lot.
“I may not be as good as the pros yet, but I love giving it a real ‘hot shot’.”
Thanks to Tennis Australia and MLC, Zane won an MLC Tennis Hot Shots equipment kit including a mini net, racquet and balls, an iPod touch and a VIP trip to Australian Open 2013.
He was presented with his prize last Thursday and shared a tennis session and BBQ with his closest friends.
Zane will also go into the running for the yearly award and the chance to win $5000 in cash courtesy of MLC, one year of free tennis coaching and a tennis lesson with former world No.8 Alicia Molik at his tennis club.
In January, Zane and one of his parents will travel to Melbourne to attend the official MLC Tennis Hot Shots of the Year Awards Night. He, like all the monthly winners, will also go behind the scenes at Melbourne Park, play on the same courts as the world’s best players and perhaps even meet one.
