Ryan Kaminsky of East Bentleigh, Victoria, and Charlie Jones of Madeley, Western Australia, have been selected as the first two MLC Tennis Hot Shot of the Year nominees for January and February.

Seven-year-old Ryan, who hails from Maccabi Bentleigh East Tennis Centre, was so thrilled to be the first participant to be chosen for the yearly competition.

“I can’t wait for Australian Open 2014,” said Kaminsky.

The budding player loves everything about the game of tennis.

“I like being able to play with friends, my sisters, parents, at school, at the park, at my tennis club and even in the living room where I can practice my light ball racquet skills.

“I have a lot of respect for the stars of the sport for their great dedication and sacrifices,” he added.

Six-year-old Charlie Jones is the competition’s second participant to be chosen and was over the moon when he heard the news he was going to the Australian Open next January.

“Oh my gosh … that is so cool,” Jones said.

The Harbour View Park Tennis Club player has a fond spot for the sport too.

“I really, really love it. I have a great coach who has to keep reminding me to keep going and concentrate hard.

“I have never ever seen tennis up close and live and look forward to cheering on the Aussies!”

Ryan and Charlie will each receive an MLC Tennis Hot Shots equipment pack as well as a VIP trip to next year’s Australian Open where they will attend the official MLC Tennis Hot Shot of the Year Awards Night and will go behind the scenes at Melbourne Park.

The boys are also in the running for $5000 courtesy of our Official Partner, MLC, as well as one year of free tennis coaching and a visit and tennis lesson with Australian tennis superstar Alicia Molik.
