Australia’s number one wheelchair tennis player, Ben Weekes, has claimed his second doubles title in as many weeks with partner Takashi Sanada (Japan) at the Busan Open. Defeating top seeds Saida/Miki (Japan) in the final 6-2 6-4.
Weekes, ranked 16 in the world, also made it through to the singles final in Busan won by top seed Satoshi Saida of Japan 6-4 6-1.
“I was happy to continue to produce my best tennis here in Busan after so many weeks on the road. I was happy to make the singles final and is always great to team up with (Takashi) Sanada in the doubles and winning our second title in a row against the top seeds was a great feeling.”
This completed a five-week tour including leading the Australian men’s team to winning the World Group 2 at the World Team Cup event in Turkey, a doubles final appearance at Korea Open, singles semi-finalist and doubles winner at the Daegu Open and singles quarter-finalist at the Japan and Korea Opens.
