Australia’s Lleyton Hewitt has suffered a heavy defeat at the second round of the ATP/WTA China Open in Beijing to Italian Fabio Fognini on Wednesday.

Hewitt lost the pair’s first ever clash 6-0 6-2 in just 59 minutes.

The Italian will face second seed Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals, after the Spaniard overcame Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber on his Wednesday evening.

Aussies Bernard Tomic and Marinko Matosevic will feature in second round action on Thursday in Beijing.
