Jarmila Gajdosova has won her first tour-level main draw match since Hobart in January with a first round victory at the WTA 125K Nanjing Ladies Open in China.
The Victorian, who has been sidelined for the past six months with mononucleosis, defeated Thai lucky loser Peangtarn Plipuech 6-3 6-4 in one hour and 18 minutes.
“We came up short last night in doubles but battled (through) today and got another win! Another chance tomorrow to get better,” she tweeted following the victory.
Partnering Russia’s Daria Gavrilova, she had lost 10-3 in a match tie-break to Chinese pairing Liang Chen and Sun Sheng-Nan.
Gajdosova, who won two singles matches to qualify for the main draw, next faces sixth seeded Misaki Doi of Japan.
