Melbourne VIC, Australia, 21 November 2013 | Tennis Australia
In a massive boost for the ATL Vic Conference, Tennis World Taipans have named former Australian great and world number 42 Scott Draper to line up this Saturday in their home Super Round to be played at the National Tennis Centre.
Draper comes into the side to join former Davis Cup player Richard Fromberg, Grant Doyle and Jarryd Maher to make a tilt at the finals. Currently sitting in third position on the ATL Vic Conference ladder, the Taipans will need a win this weekend when they meet the undefeated Kooyong Classics to keep their finals hopes alive.
On his entry in the ATL Vic Conference Draper said “This is the first time I’ve played in the ATL and I’m looking forward to this fast paced format. The shortened games and modified scoring puts a lot more pressure on each point. I’m looking forward to this ATL experience and hopefully I can post some wins for the Tennis World Taipans.”
For their home super round Tennis World Taipans will have plenty of action with Cardio Tennis, Tennis Work Out and Hot Shots activations taking place before the ATL action starts. Everyone is encouraged to come along and see the great tennis talent available.
The women’s draw will head to Green Gully, home venue for the Delahey Reckers where the big match of the round will be between the undefeated Kooyong Classics and the home team. The Reckers will be needing a win to attempt to make their way into the finals next week.
All teams will then converge on Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club for the final round of the ATL Vic Conference to be played on Sunday from 12pm. Round 5 will also coincide with the South Yarra AO Blitz stop. The AO Blitz will be at the club from 10am – 1pm and welcomes all club members and general public to come along and register their fastest serve before the ATL action takes off at 12pm.
