The 20 day storm of new age tennis will conclude on Saturday 30th November with the Asia Pacific Tennis League Vic Conference Finals Day.
In a memorable weekend featuring two blockbuster Super Rounds in both the men’s and women’s competitions, teams battled it out to book their spot at the Finals Day, and be one step closer to realising their dreams of a ATL Playoff’s spot and their shot at over 50k in total prize money on offer at the ATL Playoffs held in the second week at the 2014 Australia Open.
In the Men’s Final the Kooyong Classics led by Rubin Statham will look to withhold the momentum building Dingley Dingoes in what looms as the highest quality Final match. The Tennis World Taipans led by Richard Fromberg will face off against the Waverley Warriors led Aaron Leeder-Chard in a 3v4 playoff.
The quality of the men’s Kooyong Classic team is undeniable with Statham joined by Andrew Whittington, Andrew Coehlo and rising Aussie star Marc Polmans. The Dingley Dingoes team however is rich in talent and cannot be denied with James Lemke, joined by under-rated trio Daniel Wendler, Matt Carroll and Anthony Zafiris.
The women’s final is intriguing with the Tennis Australia pre season number 1 rated team the RSY Royals facing off against the formidable Kooyong Classics. The Kooyong Classics last year’s Vic conference women’s champions have taken all before them during the season and remain undefeated, but face the ultimate last challenge to earn the right to advance to the ATL playoffs.
Both clubs ooze talent with the Classics having Arina Rodionova, Sally Peers, Annabelle Andrinopulos, Ellen Perez and the RSY Royals Tammi Patterson, Storm Sanders and Sam Harris just to name a few enticing match ups.
The 2013 Tennis Victoria Premier League Champions Delahey Reckers will take on the youth driven MCC stars led by Zoe Hives in an intriguing side chapter for 3rd place honours.
This promises to be a day for the ages and dreams will be realised with absorbing battles on all the showcase 8 indoor courts at the National Tennis Centre next Saturday 30th November with matches commencing at 2pm, and opening ceremonies from 1:30pm.
